Sometimes the best advice comes from the most unexpected places. Yesterday, I was talking to a friend who is in an incredible relationship with her spouse. Kind of, out of the blue, she said, "I'm not sure you know how much you know about my story, but I had to kiss a lot of frogs. My best advice is find someone who makes you laugh and knows how to have fun. If it stops being fun or they don't love/treat you the way you deserve...move on." She went on to tell me about the wasted years when she could have been moving closer to find the relationship she has now.
While I'm still not sure how we got there, or how it tied to the conversation we were having, they were good words. Good advice.
Maybe my list has been too long. Maybe if I focused on those three things...makes me laugh, able to have fun, and treats me well, then maybe, everything else falls into place. Maybe those are the handles on the fishing nets of life. Seems pretty simple.
