I am a bit of a reality entertainment/singing show junkie. Mostly, The Voice, but I have been known to watch other shows, as well. Acceptance is the first step, right?
Now, some would argue that I watch The Voice in order to watch my children's next stepdad. Yes, Blake Shelton doesn't know of ALL the plans I have for him...for us, and frankly, neither does Gwen. ...details, details. Blake will know soon enough. Of course, this new little wrinkle with Gwen having his baby (or babies) ...yea...throws some extra challenges into the plan. Nothing that can't be overcome.
Now, before you call the authorities, I am KIDDING about Blake. Well, kidding about having the pre-arranged marriage and Gwen challenges. Not kidding as to why that MIGHT be one reason I watch. ...I watch because it's a great show! The concept is good...the content is good. And, at least one of the judges is super funny (weak point number 1), talented (weak point 2), and a sweet, bad boy (weak point 3). O.k., who am I kidding? I'm toast.
In early February 2016, however, The Voice, is not an option, so I will settle on American Idol. Now, Harry, nor Keith....are not Blake. Nowhere near Blake. Shoot, no where near Adam, but as I take one for the proverbial Music Reality Show Team, the funny, nice/bad boys is not the only reason I would rather watch The Voice. Another reason is that I like the anonymous part of the show, the banter of the judges, the narrowing down process...and Blake.
So, why am I enamored by these types of shows. First, I love to see people reaching for their dreams...and succeed.
Second, I admire the judges in being able to pick from that much talent. For me, it would be like going to the SPCA and knowing that I can't bring home every dog. Ok, maybe that a bad example, but you get the point, right? Right?
Lastly, I am memorized by individuals with great singing voices. I have said for a longtime that, in my next life, I'm coming back with a really beautiful singing voice. They say intention is the first step, right? I intend to have a beautiful voice. I mean like a voice for which I could be ON a reality show--and, no, not America's Funniest Home Videos.
Since I would probably get stage fright if I performed in front of my next ex-husband, I think I had better not be on The Voice. I'm going to settle for American Idol. And, since they use contestant numbers, rather than names, I'm hoping I can pick my own number. I have fond memories of Tommy Tutone's song, so I want to be 8675309. I was a Freshman in High School when it was popular. And, I just calculated that Blake was...5.
Do you think he will watch American Idol...see my contestant number...have fond memories of the song ...and call it off with Gwen?
Some say I have a bit of a one track mind. I like to think of it as being passionate about my goals.
